Learning intention: To promote the upcoming exhibition.
Prior knowledge: Students will promote or advertise the upcoming exhibition. Students will plan additional information to include as part of the class exhibition related to the Inquiry topic, ‘What does it mean to be Australian?’ The information will be based on three areas that were studied as part of the Inquiry topic, i.e. The Peopling of Australia; The local Aboriginals; The White Settlers. Each class to identify an area to focus on. As a class identify aspects of each area studied. e.g. The Local Aboriginals. Aboriginals who lived around Brimbank were the The Wurundjeri clan; The Aboriginals settled along the Kororoit creek for food and water; local trees still bear the marks where bark had been stripped for use by the local Aboriginals; Activity: Students to work in pairs to plan and write information around a selected aspect. Develop guidelines and class criteria for students to follow when presenting information e.g. clear pronunciation of words; speaking at a rate for others to follow etc.. Resources:

Learning intention: Reflection of unit
Prior knowledge: Talk to students as a group on the floor about the overall assessment. Get them to reflect on what they have learnt and document their input. Activity: Redo activity 1 - Pose the big question for class to explore - What does it mean to be Australian?
Summative assessment: Check their workbooks after completing this activity to assess their understanding and comprehension.
